Youth Outdoors Growth and Innovation (YOGI) Grant

Please Note: 

The Nevada Outdoor Education and Recreation (NOER) Grant has been renamed the Youth Outdoors Growth and Innovation (YOGI) Grant. This name change reflects the expansion of the NOER Grant into a broader umbrella program comprised of three grants:

  • Youth Outdoors Growth and Innovation (YOGI) Grant

  • Community Outdoor Recreation and Revitalization (CORR) Grant

  • Cosmos Across Nevada (CAN) Grant

About the YOGI Grant

The Youth Outdoors Growth and Innovation (YOGI) Grant supports high-quality outdoor experiences for Nevada youth. Administered by the Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation (NDOR), the program is intended to enhance academic achievement, support personal wellness, and foster a lasting appreciation for the natural environment among Nevada's youth.

How to Apply

  1. Read the 2027 YOGI Grant Manual and decide which tier fits your project:
    • Tier I Microgrant — up to $7,500
    • Tier II Impact Grant — $7,501–$50,000
  2. Download your application and budget materials from the Grant Materials list below.
  3. Build your budget using the Excel Budget Form, and check it against the Example Budget (PDF) for guidance.
  4. OPTIONAL — Get feedback before you finalize. You do not need to complete this step to apply. It is simply an opportunity, especially recommended for first-time applicants, to get NDOR staff input before you submit. If you'd like feedback, email a draft application between August 1–30, 2026 to NOERgrant@ndor.nv.gov with the subject line "[Your organization name] YOGI application for feedback."
  5. Submit your final application by October 5, 2026. Email your complete application — including your application form, budget, and any other related documentation — to NOERgrant@ndor.nv.gov.

Key Dates

Who Can Apply

Public agencies, public/private/charter schools, private nonprofit organizations, tribal governments, and other community-based entities that directly provide outdoor education or recreation programming to Nevada youth.

Eligible Projects

Outdoor environmental, ecological, agricultural, cultural, or other natural resource-based education and recreation programs serving Nevada youth through age 18, with priority given to youth facing barriers to outdoor access. The Grant Manual (linked above) has the full list of eligible and ineligible activities.

Funding

Assembly Bill 108, passed during the 2025 legislative session, allocated $250,000 annually for NOER projects in 2026 and 2027.

  • Tier I microgrants may be reviewed and awarded by NDOR staff alone.
  • Tier II grants require review by the Advisory Board on Outdoor Recreation and may require a presentation, either in person in Carson City or virtually.

A match isn't required, but it's strongly encouraged — a project with match will be chosen over a similar project without one. See the Grant Manual for eligible matching funds.

Awards & Reimbursement

Award agreements are prepared following project approval in December 2026. Funds are distributed by reimbursement: grantees pay project costs first, then submit reimbursement requests and required reports on the schedule set in the funding agreement.
